You screamed in my dreams, creamed my heart and steamed my doubts,
My rich desires took me higher to aspire for a way out,
The long silent song in my home started to shout,
For the promise made wasn't going to fade,it was the aid laid to invade my drought.
Then you said rest is the best way for success to be found,
To invest, in ways of the pests and then be bound,
Then you killed, sealed corrupt deals n silenced our sounds,
You built fear, filled tears on our faces that frowned.
You took us to the dark nooks didn't even look at our painful cuts,
You didn't care didn't bear our dared hearts,
Now Sorrows, follows proving tomorrow's hurts
Only hope is to tope, take the rope and let all be past.
I want to believe in you again, but for what gain in these painful screech,
I want to knock at doors not with soars i bore not with a snore on my speech,
I want to lope not grope, with hope that soon i Will reach,
I want to trust past the hurts, cuts that my heart still preach.

Let today handle it leave tomorrow alone
Several times you have heard people saying,” what’s the hurry, we can do it tomorrow, it’s not the end of the world and in fact if we do everything today what will we do tomorrow?” This is common in everyone’s life, wanting to do thing the next time when you feel it’s convenient enough. Well this is one of the best tricks the enemy Mr. Lucifer devised. I think we have been lied to that there is no God and it has not worked, probably you have been told that heaven is just am image created to confuse the brain of human beings and still we desire to go there, but since the devil launched his new plan of tomorrows successes, he has finally gotten us.
Procrastination is one of the deadliest diseases and its toll on successes and happiness is heavy. Every time we forgo responsibilities with the excuse of doing it tomorrow, we waste today and tomorrow. Time is one of the things that need not to be wasted because it can never be earned once lost. Whatever we have to do, let’s do it and let tomorrow come with its things, let’s not pressure the next day with the problems of today, for I think that today is mature enough to handle its problems no need to involve tomorrow.
This issue is the main reason why development is still taking it baby steps in this nation, it’s the reason why Christianity is on its way to hitting the bed rocks of failure, it’s the main reason why the young generation have stopped to think of ideas and new ways of development. It’s the reason as to why we still dream of doing big things tomorrow even without the faith of seeing that tomorrow, it’s absurd. In the sarcastic world, everything becomes possible to achieve as long as it’s done tomorrow, it’s possible to change the economy as long as it’s not today, it’s possible to improve our academic grades as long as it’s in the next time and of course it’s possible to have God in heart as long as he sends the next preacher next week.
If you choose not to deal with an issue then you give up your chance of control over the issue and it will select the path of least resistance, if you choose not to forgive someone then you become entangled to them for the rest of your life and if you choose not to do something today then you are likely not to do it tomorrow. Sometimes it clicks in our minds that we ought to balance our check books, but we excuse the idea since there is a tomorrow, whenever we ought to forgive that person who wronged us we find ourselves being busy and changing the dates of forgiveness to tomorrow and every time we remember the debts that we have, we become so quick to develop amnesia over the issue. Am sure if tomorrow had a voice, he would have sued us already for misusing him.
Right now in Kenya the lecturers and doctors are on strike and all students and patients are suffering, for what reasons? The government promised them a raise some months ago and now there are no funds. This is what I am talking about, saying you will do things and you never do them. As a nation we have been eying the beauty of industrialization and becoming a developed country, but that dream is become fainter and fainter. Right now it’s hard to tell a young person about the message of the cross and eternity for they are still waiting to hear that when they are 30 or so years, we have developed the forms of anti-socialism with the excuse of some other time, we have neglected the forms of growth since we can always do it another time, but the reality is we never get the chance of doing so.
We shall never have more time than we already have, the time we keep on wasting cannot be restored and so we have to come up with ways of developing ourselves now. If you have something that you have to do then don’t wait for tomorrow, for you don’t know what awaits you the next day, that relative that you need to see, go and see them today find time and don’t wait for time to find you for its too lazy to do that. That fellow that you have to forgive, do it now that you have remembered, take you phone and ask for their pardon, that job that has been assigned for today, try your best and get it done before tomorrow come, that promise you made, ensure that you keep it and fulfill it today, that debt you have and have been brushing it off till the next time you have enough, clear it with that little that you have now.
It is time that we become mature, organized and responsible enough. It’s time that we Christians become committed Christians, praying for issues now, reading the bible now and forgiving now, for we don’t know what awaits us the next day. Martin Luther said,’ how soon not now will always become never’. This conquers with the reality that we will always have those things that we wish we had done yesterday yet so few that we feel like doing today. As Apostle Paul puts it in his second epistle to Timothy in the 4th chapter verse 2, that he should preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke and exhort, with complete patience and teaching, we also need to take that step of readiness which a quality of now, readiness is spontaneity, it’s a today’s character not tomorrow.
Lets us wake up and journey on.

We are the change.
Where did the noble men in our society disappear to? Where are the so called spiritual Christians? This is a great generation full of newness. This is the era of fast foods and big stomachs, less patience and great achievements, this is a computer generation where you don’t need a pen to write a letter but just dial digit on your touch screen and there you are; in America, Colombia, Canada, even to the external space world. This is a generation of electronic bibles, potable prayers written on the daily devotional books and media churches, a generation of excitement and entertainment for the common benefits of every individual. This is the only generation where you determine what the pastor will preach how the ushers will dress and of course the kind of songs God would like to be worshipped with. A lot of new things are being discovered each day, new ways of births, new ways of praying, worshipping, new forms of marriage, new vehicles, phones and list goes on and on. This is the era of internet communication, internet dating, internet courtship, internet marriage and even internet divorce. Things have been made easy indeed.
In this new 21st generation churches have had the greatest transformation compared to any other thing. This is the only era where we enjoy real freedom in the church, right from the preaching to the attendance. Going to church has become a luxury part of life which of course you can always do without. People attend the church services in all manner of styles, churches developing all forms of wars and completions. Pastors are going abroad for conferences on church increments, driving big cars to churches, leaving in mansions based in all countries and their kids studying in Harvards, Oxfords and Cambridges of our time, yet the congregation is still trailing in the ugly paths of poverty.
Let us be the light of this world, salt of this earth and let our light shine out to all men that they may see it and praise our heavenly father. We have to repent in this generation not merely for the vitriolic words and actions of the bad people, but for the appalling silence of the good people. I know that we have the power to make this generation the best generation of the mankind in the history of the world or make it the last. I believe in uniqueness and the only way to change our generation is to start being different yourself. Change starts with you before it transpires to others. Choose to do right even if it makes you the only Christian in this world, choose to be the true friend even if they don’t exist and start speaking the truth even if it makes you a betrayer of this generation. Jesus is the perfect example to follow, embrace him as role model and this generation will be never be the same again.

No more sugar coating.
Earlier last month one of my friends was murdered, it was a very sad experience for me especially because I feel like I contributed to his death. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t arrange for his death, neither am I a murderer, but his way of death could have been prevented, it was not an accident but something to be expected, I might sound so odd to expect someone’s death, but it’s true his way of living was likely to lead to death.
I had known him for more than four years and he was a close friend, we did things together, both good and bad, but in the long run I decided not do the bad things but I allowed him to do both. I could have been true to him and tell him to change but it felt so hard ,I was scared he would avoid me, but where did that fear lead to?
Since then I have been thinking of how to make a positive impact on the lives of those around me, and today I got the answer, being honest. This simply means saying the truth at all times regardless of the risk involved. Honesty is one of foundational basis of any relationship. Honesty bores, trust and confidence, it will make you feel secure around someone and for sure it will make you feel treasured and cared for.
Honesty can be observed in three dimensions, i.e. confession, confrontation and correction; I call this the 3Cs of honesty. Many relationships that I know have all the great attributes of love, passion, respect, romance and affection, care and all the good names we label them, but the truth is all these names are just phantom, they are all sweet, meaningless, empty names and until we learn to say the truth and say it without sugar coating it, then all those things we are seeking for in relationships will never come.
Have you ever done something wrong that it makes you sick inside? It eats you up, makes your blood boil and you can’t keep in inside any longer? Well I have been there many times and the only way to cool down the hit is let it out. Confessing what you did. This is the first C of honesty. When you are wrong, you don’t need to justify yourself. You might convince someone with the lie you formulate to cover up the mistake you did, but guilty is bright and will never be convinced.
There is nothing that has never been forgiven in this world and definitely you are not the first one to make a mistake. By confessing your mistakes to those you care about, proves your care, it shows your respect to them. We men we have a tendency of hurting the feelings of our spouses then come with the flowers to make them forget. That’s foolish, women don’t forget and they don’t want to be convinced by the flowers all they are seeking for is the truth and if you think you are permitted to tell white lies all the time then soon you will grow color blind.
Do you have those friends who are always coming to you for help, who will come to your house and make themselves at home, who will eat your food, drink all of your drinks from the fridge and even personalize your remote control? Well they are there and I know you have them, and if you are one of them then you need help. You keep saying ‘so and so can’t stop coming to you for help and so and so can’t stop disturbing you when you need a ‘Me time’ and blah! Blah! Blah!’ but stop for a minute and think, why are they always coming to you? Simple, it’s because you let them with an excuse that you are so scared of telling them the truth of how disturbed you feel every time they come.

Simple, it’s because you let them with an excuse that you are so scared of telling them the truth of how disturbed you feel every time they come.
We are always tolerating the things we hate for the name of care. We can’t confront our friends about their canning nature for the name of, ‘I don’t want them to get mad’. Well, you will become mad yourself; if are not honest, soon you will go mad. We have to confront our friends and tell them the things that we don’t like in them, it’s not because you despise them but because you care about your friendship. We always tell lies and pretend when we are afraid, afraid of what we don’t know, afraid of what others will think, afraid of what will be found out about us. But every time we tell a lie the thing that we fear grows stronger.
Every time we are looking for people to love, we always focus on how they look, their beautiful smile and everything physical about them, just to come to find out they were not as good as we thought. Everyone has a weakness beneath the colored skin that we see and that should tell you that perfection only exist in the word of the angels and God the father. The problem with us imperfect humans is that we know of our nature yet we pretend not to. Honesty involves correction. Telling others of their mistakes and showing them the better way if not the right way.
Sometimes we lie to people by telling them how elegant they are dressed yet your other ‘you ‘hold a complete different opinion. We tell our girlfriends how tasty the food they prepared tastes, but after that we sneak to the nearby cafeteria and grab some fast food, we are so scared of telling our friends about the importance of water 'on' the body, not just for drinking. You are afraid of telling your boyfriend of their ill-mannered behaviors at the dining table, just because they will be offended, but how are we helping them? Where are the honest people of this world? Correcting the mistakes of our imperfection is nothing to be embarrassed about. It’s something to applause to and give a standing ovation to.
Remember, honesty pays however much it doesn’t seem to pay for some people, but for the sake of our relationships, we have to practice honesty, confessing the dark secrets of our lives locked in our traumatized hearts, confronting the characters of the ones we love and correcting their weakness to make them the persons we are proud of. Truth is the only thing worth having, and in a civilized world like ours where reality is bad enough, the truth is the only thing that will make you unique, worthy and free. Say the truth and the truth shall set you free.

Can you be Trusted?
Have you ever given yourself to someone fully? Allow them to control your life, advice you and lead you every step of the way? It brings out the ease of doing things, someone planning everything for you; you just have to follow, not to worry about the next step. Well it’s a great feeling. But the sad part comes when that person makes a fool of you, when they lead you to the high cliffs of life then let you fall, when they blind fold you with all the good things life offers then all over sadden it’s all gone. It leaves you lost, makes you cry, makes you heart broken and always brings out the bitter feeling of “I wish I knew”.
Relationship is the hardest thing to try, yet it’s the only thing we can’t live without. We are relational beings and forever we will need people to be with. Someone who will listen to your hoarse voice without complains someone who will put up with all your weaknesses, someone who will keep the deepest secrets of your life and not to tell even with a bullet on their head, someone who is trust worthy. But those people are hard to find, they exist yes, but in the rare corners of this dark earth. We all want them, and when the loving master brings them our way, then life becomes complete.
But what normally changes, what makes them to just abandon us and leave, what makes your own father to turn against you and treat you like his wife, what makes that man that you placed all your trust in to become an animal. I need answers to all the life’s questions, what changes the minds of those who claim to love us. You trusted them with your life, you allowed them to lead you every step of the way, just to find out that they are not who they say they are? Just to see the monster in them? Why does God allow such people in our lives, why?
The wounds in our heart need nursing, but what happens if your night nurse, removes the mask and reveals the ghost beneath the mask, who do you run to, who do you trust to be real? No man is an island, but this is the place when you wish you will become one, this is the time you shout for independence, you long for visions about your life, and not to forget, you wish for vengeance.
As a child , you would always believe everything your dad told you, you would jump to the arms of your mum knowing she will hold you, you would cry just to get away with whatever you were hiding, you had people who lead you. Then you grew up and fell in the arms of the secret charming who know just what to say, you gave them your heart, minds, soul and not to forget the body. They use you and then let you fall. They make you feel useless and dirty; they abuse you not with words but actions, taking your trust just for a ride. Those friends that we tell everything just to come and find out that they are responsible for our miserable lives, that uncle who looks at you with evil eyes from head to toe, just to land on your innocence and take away the precious gift of purity. Who is there to trust?
Life has provided all the reasons for selfishness; life has all the convincing reasons for hatred. You are not a weirdo when you feel that someone should pay; you are not an alien to think that we should move to another planet. It’s okay to feel rage, since a broken trust is painful. But we are all human, bound to fail, or fail others, beneath every person, there is that feeling of, ‘me first’ everybody has the genes of selfishness, but it should not be an excuse for breaking hearts. We can purpose to protect lives by being trust worthy; you can be a trust worthy parent to your kids, a trustworthy partner to your spouse and a trustworthy Christian to God the father.
We are all looking for people to trust, but I guess we are just looking in the wrong places, start to focus your search towards heaven, there is a friend named Jesus, who will never let you down. What a friend we have in him, what a lover he is, the best parent anyone can ever have, the only promising arms to jump to. If we learn to trust in God with all our heart and not to lean on our own understanding, then our paths of life will be illuminated. We will see where we are heading to. If only all of us would be like Jesus then I would not be writing this blog. Can you be trusted? Are you one of those beings who allow their selfishness to exceed their humanity? Are you a heart breaker? What makes you different from the serpent who crawled in the holy gardens of Eden and brought perversion? You say you trust God; but can he trust you with his children?

Freedom, nothing tastes better.
‘Freedom’ we all long for freedom. Freedom from the bondages that we entangle our selves with, freedom from the mistakes we have made and freedom from all the desires that have stuck with us. We are addicted to things all over; things that are not worth associating with, things that kill the inner conscience and seers the innocence in us if at all there is any.
Growing up in some blocks of the streets aint easy, hearing the gun shots every night before retiring to bed is not so much fun, having an angry dad who will never say am sorry or I love u is not something you would pray for, homes becoming unbearable with the tears and screams from the innocent mum, horror laughter from the drunkard dad, and the squeaking of the scared little children. When will it all end, when will freedom knock at our doors.
“What did I do to God?’ this is always the question. You cry yourself to sleep, yet no one comes with the package of the so desired freedom. Living free, enjoying the natural pleasure of the sun, when will it come? Until when will this dehydration continue? We all start to seek freedom in our own ways, beat them or join them, entangle with the evil society, turn to be my drunkard father, bear bitterness as long as I live, and believing in everything else other than God.
We want to run away from it all, forget it never happened, become who we are not, live others’ purposes, but still there is no freedom. Bitterness bears its names on our foreheads; unforgiveness rule our hearts and revenge become the common syllable. We all want them to pay. They took away our freedom they ought to pay, “he stole my childhood, he must pay! he took away my innocence, that man took away my innocence, he deserves death!, the father I never knew, he abandoned me, left me in poverty, and the creator who took away my mum, she was the only hope of life but he took her away” … tears, rage, pain, bitterness seeking to devour me.
But freedom where is your light of hope, I have hated, cling on the past, revenged, why am I still in bondage, why can’t I be free? Am tired of all this please leave me alone, freedom, please come for me. Where are you and why am I burdened? Its not my fault that all this happened to me, I didn’t choose to be born of them, did I sent a letter requesting for this kind of life? Am through with you, if you can’t come for me, then I will do without you.
Pain rises, eats us alive, consumes us and in the end we are useless, still no freedom, still a slave of pain and anger, still succumbed in the arms unforgiveness. Freedom won’t come after all. I guess, I have to let it go, I desire freedom so let me surrender. Let all the pain be the things of the past, let the people who took me to hell in the present life not bother me anymore; they took a lot anyway, for how long will they rule my living. I want to be free, I free those that I had enslaved with my anger, and I surrender them to the one who truly understand my worth. I let it all go.
The past is behind me am not looking back; my past is gonna be a stepping stone to see a brighter future. I will no longer focus on the past, it has happen and I can’t change it, but see I can change my future, yes! I can change my future, I am free to change the future, I am free, I have freedom! Yes! finally freedom has come my way freedom at last, I will embrace this freedom, freedom to have a hope and a future, freedom to experience eternity. I Am changed am renewed, transformed in the likeness of Jesus who gives freedom.
Wake up let us journey on.

Will Sorry change the story?
Have you ever heard people saying they are tired of sorry? That sorry won’t change the situation; it won’t change the heart aches and definitely won’t make my broken spirit whole again? Well I have heard this and sometimes I have been the victim of these phrases, but I came to realize that people don’t apologize because it’s the normal thing to do, but they do it because it’s the right thing to do.
Sometimes we hurt the people we treasure and really care about and we keep on saying sorry until the word looses taste. It becomes senseless to say it and that’s why people no longer apologize. Saying sorry doesn’t mean there isn’t guilt and forgiveness doesn’t mean that the pain is gone. The best time to forgive is normally immediately and not four years after the person who killed my heart has shifted to a place where I can’t see them. We keep on making mistakes since we are human and that is not to justify what we keep doing, but that’s the reality. If you are waiting to date an angel then you should write a letter in heaven to be allowed to do so when you get there (if you will). The world is full of people who keep making mistakes each and everyday not willingly but sometimes it just happen, and the sanest thing to do is to say that you are sorry and life moves on.
Somebody said if you are going to do something tonight that will make you to be sorry tomorrow then you should sleep. This is to say that the mistakes we keep making yet we can avoid, should be avoided. It is true that sometimes it’s tiring to hear the phrase ‘I am sorry it won’t happen again’. Have you ever realized that people will always say that even without a blink yet they did the same thing yesterday? This is because there is no day with the name ‘again’. This is my point saying sorry is okay, but saying it without meaning it is as useless as not saying it.
Robert Flipp once said that a mistake is always forgivable, rarely excusable and always unacceptable. Forgiveness is possible, tough it’s hard. It’s never easy to forgive the same person over and over again, but it’s possible. Women have placed record of banking grudges for years and never forgiving. I wonder how that is possible, but sometime we men don’t deserve the forgiveness we get, because we are always known for taking advantage of the hearts that beat for us.
Life full of sorry and forgiveness is a beautiful life. Forgiveness is the expression of love and care and apologizing is the best way of showing respect to those we care about. Let us learn from God the father. His forgiveness is unconditional and I am sure he will never be tired of doing so. This is not to mean we should take advantage of his goodness, and the same applies to the relationships that we have in life.
Forgiveness restores fellowship, it’s the final form of love, it determines the future of soul mates and it’s what brings the heavenly experience on earth. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Its time that we get used to the fact that people will always say sorry, but remember that you always have to forgive no matter what, that just the way it is.
Wake up let us journey on.

Love where is your fire?
The most abused word in our times is the word love. People have gone ways to the extreme to describe love in a funny manner. When did love become about looks and physical composition of a being. When did love stop being a thing of the heart, matters of concern, care, affection and a matter of life and death? If Gods love was just a mare document called contract then we will all be loveless. Sometimes in our peer group we have made jokes about people and have said that they are unlovable, well come to think of it, who deserves to be loved? We are all unlovable when it comes to God, but he loves us still because he is love.
In the older times a husband who loves was known as a provider. He had to make sure that the family had all the basic needs, the wife dresses elegantly and all the kids grow up with all the basic needs i.e. food, clothing and shelter. A lot of these have really changed in the current generation and love has been defined with funny things which don’t match to it at all. Paul gives a really wonderful definition of what love is in 1st Corinthians 13.4, he says love is patience, kind, doesn’t envy and a lot of really great things. I have read this verse over and over again and nowhere does it say that love is having a lot of money, great looks, pretty dimples and six packs.
If you read in the news papers you will come across the many columns about love seekers, people give the funny descriptions of themselves and the kind of lovers they are looking for, ladies are looking for responsible men who are financially stable and working with as cabin crew, single of cause dark and handsome, while the guys are looking for the beautiful brown ladies who are loving affectionate and working as blah! Blah! Blah! Nonsense if you ask me.
Love is not blind but visionary; it sees into the heart of an object and not the physical part and sees the real self behind and in the midst of all frailties and shortcomings of a person. Love is not about what we have, how we look and where we work, it’s about complimenting each other in the way we care and make ourselves available for each other, it’s about understanding and accepting each other in the ways we think, the things we have and do and helping one another become better versions of themselves and not becoming us.
We can’t find true love in the looks of people or cars they drive, love is not self seeking but always contented, love delights in good and not evil, love makes us happy and joyous in the midst of sorrows and it conquers all. Media has made love cheap, something to attain just by sending a message with a word; for you to find true love, you have to accept and love yourself. You don’t need a classic job to be loved or wear make-ups for someone to love you for we don’t fall in love but grow in love, no one is an expert in loving but we all are learning to love and in reality we don’t find love but love finds us.
The current generation is so much into what the other person can give, and owns and this has captured our inner thoughts that we have forgotten the attributes of love. Love goes beyond the emotions and physical appearance, God says that he loves us not because of what we do, how we look like or what we have, God’s love is not based on us but he bases his love on himself, he loves us and how we look like won’t stop him. We are fearfully and wonderfully made and through his strength we can do all things. He says that nothing can separate us from his love and for me that is a true definition of love.
True love is undying devotion; it’s the desire of intimacy. Love is a feeling of completeness, forgiving, inspiring and understanding. Love is the attainment of life’s greatest inspiration. It’s supporting, but not overbearing. Love is beautiful and in it we find beauty, when we are in love then, the shape of the head won’t matter but the brains in that head, when in love the complexion won’t be a problem, coz they are all beautiful, black or white, dark or light. When you find true love you will work together to buy all those things you desire, you will fit into their shoes and they will fit into yours.
The best place to learn about love is in the realms of the loving father through his son Jesus Christ who loved us to the point of death, we didn’t deserve it and can’t even pay for it, but because he loves us he still did. When you have experience Jesus Christ and his gift of grace then am sure we will start describing love as it should. Love has fire to burn away all the pains and heartaches we experience, it can burn away all the weakness and bore some strength in us, it can motivate, inspire and energize. Love has the power to revive and change lives, restore relationships and bring healing, all else may fail, but love never fail. Let us ask from God, true love and we will never be the same
Wake up let us journey on.

My life on the billboard
Have you ever pictured your life on the billboard? Imagine yourself in town and everything that you have been doing being shown to the public, for me that is the scariest thing that can ever happen in my life. It’s hard to be an example to the current generation because of the different things that people are looking up to. I love the fact that I am young. This is because I know that I have time to enjoy a lot of things here on earth. The bible tells me to enjoy my youth and make good use of it and that’s what I would like to do, but sometimes it’s just hard to do that.Sophia Loren said that the foundation of a youth is their mind, talents, creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. I as a young person should then have someone to lead me each and every day of my life and be an example; a role model, someone that I desire to become. The bible present some youths that led exemplary lives that we would want to emulate.
Talk of the boy Joseph. He was not that young compared to the current generation, but those times being 30 was young taking in account that people would live up to 900years. The guy was sold in Egypt, went to prison and the rest if the story we know. But what is outstanding about the boy Joseph is his commitment to God. He fled away from Potiphar‘s wife who lusted after his looks and wanted something more other than his services as a house cleaner.
Our current generation has a problem with running way from temptations. We have become ostriches and have hid our heads in the sand, but that that doesn’t mean that the temptations will leave us. We have a problem of living in purity and not indulging in the sexual sin. Saying a NO! Which mean exactly that has become a Goliath. The book of Ephesians 5.3 urges us to live a pure life and there should not be even a hint of sexual immorality. We should keep our lives holy for he who called us is holy.
The handsome David is also a person to watch very closely. This 17 years boy faces a giant and defeats him, he learnt the secret is not in the sword but in trust. David trusted God in everything in his life. He says in psalms 9.10 that those who know your name will trust in you, for you lord has never forsaken those who seek you.
Trusting in the lord with all our hearts is the only weapon that is going to transform this generation. In life we sometimes view ourselves vulnerable when we trust in someone, but always remember that true joy and love only come with trusting. We have to stop leaning on our own understanding and turn to the giver of wisdom and knowledge. We have to present our anxiety and burdens to the lord for he cares. The most deceitful thing is the heart and thus following our hearts and depending on our own abilities is the leading path to a lost generation. The things we have been advocating for are not even close to what God would desire. Let Davids be born in this generation and let’s trust God with our mountains.
Jeremiah was around 14-19 years when God called him. He claimed to be young but God still used him. Jeremiah accepted God’s will in his life and followed his calling. God says that he has good plans for us plans to give us a hope and a future. Aligning our prayers with God’s will is the only thing that will put this generation in order. God has an order for our lives and the only way to know that is by following his will for our lives.
We have become crawling living sacrifices and have crawled out of the alter when we are supposed to give ourselves fully to him. Paul urges us not to be shaped by the patterns of this world but to be transformed by the renewal of our minds in order to understand God’s perfect will for us. We are only as young as our faith and as old as our doubt, as young as our self confidence and as old as our fears, as young as our hope and as old as our despair, as young as in God’s will and old as leading our own ways. We have to let God lead us to our destiny because he knows what is good for all of us. Give him a chance today and he will surprise you with the much that he can do.
Finally we have Timothy. He walked so closely with Paul and became like a son to him. Paul nurtured him in the ways of faith and helped him to grow up as a responsible man. Paul tells Timothy to set an example to the other believers in speech, life, love and purity. Much education of our time is monumentally inefficient. Too often we have given the youths the cut flowers when in the first place we should teach them how to plant the flower. We have been spoon fed with everything and have always depended on others, but this is the time to rise up and shine for others to emulate you. We have to set examples to the world in the way we talk, live, love and in the walk of holiness. We must have something that the next generation would want to learn from.
It’s time that we get a Paul who will grow us up to be Timothy and at that point grow up to plant our own flowers, for people will never learn to improve unless they look to some standard of example higher and better than themselves. Titus 2.7 tells us to set a good example by doing what is good. James on the hand reminds us to accompany our faith with our deeds. This generation needs an example; we need to set an example to the youths out there. What are you doing to change your immediate environment? This generation need role models to emulate, are you willing to be one? Let us desire to give birth to a Joseph, David, Jeremiah and Timothy in our generation and we will see ourselves rising above unimaginable height.
Wake up let us journey on.

Old school vs. civilization
Here I am in this matatu and can’t stop wondering what has gotten into us Kenyans, don’t accuse me of always complaining but what I heard is all true. Kenyans we need to go back to the 1st grade and be taught about moral values of the old times. “Maina I have been dating this 21years boy for the past 6months and I just can’t stop, am 40 years, married with two beautiful daughters, 15 and 19 years but I can’t leave this boy” said the woman calling classic fm. I was shocked to hear that someone can say that in a public radio and from that point I realized how much we have abandoned our ways of living and adopted careless and selfish ways life, that’s when I thought out loud about MORALS.
I remember when I was growing up some many years ago, where television had very nice educative programs like, dunia wiki hii, upishi bora, discovery world, cartoon network and of cause wrestling. There were no soap operas at 6pm when every kid wants to be glued on the ‘telly’, those were parents’ things and none of us were allowed to be awake at 9.30pm since that is the time when the bold and beautiful was showing. Life was straight forward and moral standard had to be followed.
Then the millennium era came with all the new patterns of life and drowned most of the old ways of doing things. It came with the new fashion of ‘showing it all’, new TV programs that reveals all the bedroom mysteries and off cause the rebellion motto for children against their parents. Where I was growing every elderly lady in my neighborhood had the right to punish me when on the wrong side and every elderly man in the area could send me anywhere and I would go since all those kind of men were a representative figure of my strict father.
The current generation is different and has violated some norms of the Kenyan society. The dating rules have been violated and respect is on its way to vanity. How can a 43 year old lady date a 21 year old kid? Does that seem right to you? Every day we are reading in the papers of the father who raped the daughter, the brother who molested his younger sister, the son who is having an affair with the step mother!!!… And every crazy thing that is out there. Where did our morals disappear to?
Bertrand Russell once wrote that; there are two kind of morality side by side; one which we preach but do not practice, and another one which we practice but seldom to preach. The sad thing of our time is that this is all true. Parents have been teaching their children how to consume water, but they enjoy the wine. Some of them expect their kids to learn out of the blues what is wrong and right. Parents have neglected their parental responsibility and have closed themselves in the offices and business trips.
With the technology making its way into the world, information has become easy to access. Young people have turned to the internet and it has become a toy to every child in the dot.com generation. This has bought about positive changes but it has also washed away the moral of our society. Pornography has become the cartoon network of today and listening to silly music has been the fun of the young people of these days. It’s time we start the journey to our roots and start embracing the old ways of living. Call me old school or ‘mshamba’ but this civilization if abused will lead us to the hell fire.
Let’s be the change that we want to see out there and let us be an example to the next generation. Let us live decently, dress decently, talk decently and watch decent things. Let us not corrupt our brains with rubbish in the name of civilization and fun. Let us respect our parents, impact positive thinking in the minds of the growing, act mature in daily situations and fight for a better world full of strong moral standards. Let’s fight for tomorrow’s generation.
Wake up let us journey on.

The less routine the more life
Finally Friday is here again. Some call it ‘furahi day’ meaning a day to rejoice, but for me I don’t see any difference from the other days because I know I’m going to spend it just like the other days. Since I became sick last week I had to be indoors all through and from Monday till today am still here. Doctors say that when you are sick then you should spend most of the time in bed and rest a lot, but for me I have discovered a new thing from all these, you become sicker, bored and tired, you don’t recover at all.
Having to do the same thing throughout the week has really made my health to deteriorate and even worsen and am sure this is not because the drugs have not been effective but probably I have been spending most of the time sleeping, anyway let’s turn the coin on the other side ad look at the positive things that I have learn t, mmmmmh! , ROUTINE is the word. I have learn t how routine can make Opiyo the dull boy.
Routine is the tendency of doing things is a common fashion; it’s like waking up in the morning, taking a shower, breakfast, going to job and doing the same thing throughout the day. It’s an easy life but when observed closely very monotonous and boring. Henry van duke once said that as long as a habit and a routine dictate the patterns of living, new dimensions of the soul will never emerge.
Doing things in a routine is really dangerous. It blocks our brains from new ideologies and interests. Life is great out there it’s full of new things which we always need to try out. Talk of the Christian walk; this is one walk that requires diversity, if we live a Christian life where we read the bible because it’s part of the routine, pray because we have to do it at 9pm before going to bed or go to church because it’s a community routine to worship every Sunday, then we are heading to the wrong destination.
I have been in catholic denomination and have really experienced a routine in the way of worship. Standing at some point of prayers, kneeling in some, reciting the same prayers and singing the same songs after each prayers etc. I have nothing against these forms of doing things but I guess it reaches a point where we become sick of it and its value is lost.
Sometimes looking at things in a different angle makes us discover their other shapes and dimensions, and sometimes doing things in different ways help us to create new ideas and ways to develop our selves. We have made it a habit to judge people in the way they talk, laugh at stupid jokes and have desired to fit in ‘clicks’ just to be accepted, but all in all we don’t accept ourselves because we always have to follow the same trend in order to feel complete, but the question is, are we really complete?
Let me drift a bit and look at the Kenyan political history, 1st president Mr. Kenyatta always said “harambee” and people would shout “nyayo”. President Moi on the other hand forced us to follow the nyayo slogan and finally we found ourselves lagging behind since we were still using the Kenyatta ways of doing thing, but where has that taken us, are we industrialized yet? Will we ever be industrialized anyway? The routine has caught up with our politics, endorsing the same people over years, stealing votes for them to be in the same positions, but still we are longing for changes?
What’s wrong with us people, haven’t we learn t anything over the years? Routine will never redeem a man. Praying in the same manner won’t make you a growing Christian, sometimes you have to do it longer, stronger and more sincerely. Routine takes away our honesty, it drains out our passion and more so makes us lesser and lesser as the days goes by. William Graham once said, “Men of routine or men who do what they are told are not hard to find; but men who can think and plan and tell the routine men what to do are very rare to find.” This is all true, but he didn’t say that they are impossible to find.
I believe it’s time we do away with the routine thing and stop being lazy to think of new ideas of doing things in our Christian walk, in improving our economy and electing our political leaders, because one reality about routine is that it kills all our imagination and all our capacity for enthusiasm.
“Running through things because you are familiar with them, breeds routine and this is the seed of boredom” said James Galway. Today I won’t spend my day in bed for throughout this week I have learn t a lot about routine and since I don’t want to be the lazy boy, who can’t generate ideas, am off these blankets.
Wake up and journey on.
